3-Way Switches with the LINE and LOAD in Separate Electrical Boxes

A wiring diagram depicting 3-Way Switches with the LINE and LOAD in Separate Electrical Boxes

A very old style electrical outlet that can accommodate two types of plugs that were in use at the time.
This is a typical four-way switch and intermediate switch wiring diagram. The load wire is in one 3-way switch box and the line from the power source is in the other 3-way switch box. The four-way switches are wired in between. A three conductor cable would be installed from switch to switch with the red and black wires being used as the hot travelers and the neutral conductor just spiced through to the next switch.
